Titus

(first century)

   Disciple and Bishop.

   Titus is mentioned in paul’s Epistle to the Galatians, in his second letter to the Corinthians and in his second letter to timothy. He was also the recipient of one of Paul’s letters, in which he was described as ‘my true child after a common faith’. It has been conjectured, but on little evidence, that he was luke’s brother. He aided Paul in his mission campaigns and eusebius of caesarea records that he was the first Bishop of Crete. Today his head is venerated as an important relic in St Mark’s Cathedral, Venice.
